What are lingual braces? Lingual braces are invisible braces that are placed behind your teeth on the lingual or tongue side of the mouth. People are drawn to these kinds of braces because they cannot be seen from the front of the mouth. The only way they can be seen is if you tilt your head back. Therefore, most people would never know you have braces with lingual braces.
While they are an attractive option for people who are conscious of their appearance, lingual braces are more costly. They are custom-made to the backs of your teeth and also require special training and instruments to adjust. On average, you can expect to pay between $6,000 and $9,500 for lingual braces.
Lingual Braces and Invisible Braces
For these reasons, we generally only recommend them if you decline treatment with clear orthodontics braces in front. However, they offer more control and more rapid orthodontics than some of their competing alternatives, such as Invisalign retainers. The treatment time is usually half of the time that is required for these clear retainers.
