Boston Invisalign Dentist
Needing orthodontic work doesn’t mean you are sentenced to a year or two of braces anymore. There are many different treatment options available today for patients to choose from when they visit their orthodontist. For many patients, Invisalign is a viable treatment option. Invisalign uses a series of custom aligner trays to straighten teeth.
The Invisalign trays are worn over the teeth. Unlike traditional braces, you don’t have any metal brackets or wires in your mouth. Instead, you change out trays every couple of weeks as your smile is transformed.

A Word About Invisalign
Invisalign can be an effective tool to straighten minimally crowded teeth over 1 to 2 years usually, although very simple orthodontic cases can be done in a shorter time in some instances. However Invisalign is NOT ideal for rotated teeth or teeth that must be brought down out of the bone or intruded into the bone. Modifications and additions can made to the teeth, but with no firm anchorage on teeth the amount of torque and force applied IS LIMITED, so there are many restrictions that are sometimes not evident until after the case has been begun. Many dentists begin with Invisalign and switch to regular braces after struggling unsuccessfully for months, and many patients quit Invisalign because they are not compliant with the wear regimen which is most of the daytime and all of the nighttime. For this reason we use Invisalign to treat simple cases only.
